The single most common question we get on the phone is also the hardest one to answer honestly over a call: "How much will it cost to fix my TV?"
Any shop that quotes you a firm price before seeing the television is guessing — or setting you up for a revised bill later. What an honest technician can tell you is the realistic range for each type of fault, so you know whether the quote you are being given is fair. That is what this guide is for.
Why nobody can quote your exact price on the phone
A television that shows "no picture but sound works" could have any of four completely different faults: a failed backlight strip, a dead T-CON board, a bad panel, or a loose LVDS ribbon cable. Those four faults differ in cost by a factor of twenty. The symptom is identical from your sofa. The cause is only visible once the back cover is off and a meter is on the board.
This is why we charge a diagnostic visit fee, and why we adjust that fee into the final bill if you go ahead with the repair. Anyone promising a free diagnosis is either recovering that cost inside an inflated parts price, or is not actually diagnosing anything.
Realistic TV repair cost ranges in Delhi
These are typical market ranges for out-of-warranty repairs in Delhi NCR. Your final price depends on screen size, brand, and whether the part is a common one or has to be sourced.

The one repair that is usually not worth it
Panel replacement. We will say this plainly even though it costs us work: on most televisions, replacing a cracked or failed panel makes no financial sense.
The LCD/LED panel is the single most expensive component in a television — commonly more than half the retail price of the whole unit. Add labour and the risk of damage during the swap, and you are often within a few thousand rupees of a brand-new TV with a fresh manufacturer warranty.
💡 Technician rule of thumb: if the repair quote exceeds roughly 40% of what an equivalent new television costs today, put the money towards the new set instead. A good repair shop should tell you this without being asked.
There are exceptions — a premium large-format or OLED set only two or three years old can still be worth a panel swap. For everything else, board-level repairs are where repair genuinely beats replacement.
Five ways people get overcharged for TV repair
- The "whole board" upsell. Many faults are a single failed capacitor or IC. Replacing the entire board is faster for the technician and several times more expensive for you. Always ask: can this be repaired at component level?
- Vague diagnosis. "Motherboard problem" is not a diagnosis. Ask which component failed and why. A real technician can tell you.
- No written warranty. If the part or the labour is not warranted in writing, the same fault reappearing in three weeks becomes your problem, not theirs.
- Taking the TV away. Once a television leaves your home, you have lost all leverage over the price and the timeline. Insist on doorstep diagnosis. Only genuinely complex board work should ever need to go to a workshop, and only with your written consent.
- Parts you cannot see. Ask for the old part back. Every honest shop will hand it over.
What to ask before you approve any repair
- What exactly failed, and what caused it to fail?
- Is this a component repair or a board replacement, and what is the price of each?
- What is the total, including the visit charge and GST?
- How long is the warranty on the part and on the labour?
- Is the replacement part new, refurbished, or OEM?
A shop that answers all five without hesitating is a shop worth using. One that gets defensive is telling you something.
